FRANKFORT, Ky. – In a significant move to assist parenting students, the Kentucky Student Success Collaborative (KYSSC) has announced the distribution of five planning grants, each amounting to $60,000, to various public colleges and universities across the state. This initiative, spearheaded by the Council on Postsecondary Education (CPE), aims to enhance the educational experience for students who are also parents, recognizing the unique challenges they face in balancing academic responsibilities and family life.
The grants are intended to support institutions in developing programs and resources tailored to the needs of parenting students. By fostering an inclusive environment, the initiative seeks to improve retention rates and academic success among this demographic. The funding will enable colleges to implement innovative strategies that address barriers such as childcare access, flexible scheduling, and academic support services.
This initiative reflects a broader commitment to ensuring that all students have the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their personal circumstances. The CPE’s efforts underscore the importance of supporting diverse student populations in higher education.
