A father who presented himself online as a Christian parenting advocate is now facing murder charges after his four-month-old son died from what authorities describe as violent shaking. The baby's mother says she wanted to get help for the child but the father prevented her from doing so.
The infant was rushed to a hospital last week with severe head trauma. Doctors determined the injuries were consistent with shaken baby syndrome. The child died two days later. Police arrested the father, who had been posting advice on social media about raising children with strict Christian values.
Court documents reveal the mother told investigators she noticed the baby was unresponsive and wanted to call 911. She claims the father refused to let her use the phone and told her the baby would be fine. By the time she managed to get help, it was too late.
Neighbors described the couple as quiet and religious. The father's online posts often talked about discipline and obedience. One post from last month read, "Spare the rod, spoil the child." Another encouraged other parents to "break their child's will early."
Prosecutors say the man admitted to shaking the baby because he would not stop crying. He is being held without bond. The mother has not been charged. Child protective services are now investigating the family's history.
The case has sparked discussions about the gap between online personas and real-life behavior. Experts say it also highlights the dangers of shaking infants, which can cause permanent brain damage or death in seconds. The father faces life in prison if convicted.
